Modular X-ray Units
Designed and built to meet strict radiation shielding requirements, our units incorporate specialist lead shielding of up to 14 mm, assembled in our controlled manufacturing centre to ensure precision and full compliance.
We work closely with your appointed Radiation Protection Advisor to guarantee each facility meets all relevant safety and operational regulations, delivering a fully compliant and future-proof solution.
Each X-ray unit includes dedicated areas for control stations and image capture hardware, enabling safe and efficient operation. Our layouts are carefully planned to optimise patient flow, minimise waiting times, and enhance overall clinical efficiency.
Additional supporting accommodation such as consultation rooms, patient waiting areas, and staff facilities can be incorporated to create a fully integrated diagnostic environment.
Modular X-ray Projects
Musgrove Park Hospital
Superficial X-ray
ModuleCo provided a specialised X-ray facility to Musgrove Park Hospital for the University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust. The two-module, 64 m² facility, while smaller than our typical installations, was notable for its complexity due to the 14 mm lead lining.
The lead shielding was applied to the floor, walls, and ceiling, complemented by a 750 kg lead-lined door. The heaviest module weighed 35 tonnes.
“The superficial X-ray gives us the opportunity to spend a bit more time positioning patients, as the unit isn’t quite as rigid as a linear accelerator,” said Jo Penman, Somerset NHS Trust’s Head of Radiotherapy.
