Our twin operating theatre facility at Leicester General Hospital, delivered in partnership with the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, has officially opened and welcomed its first patients.
Following planning approval in October 2022, the project was delivered at pace to help the Trust begin reducing waiting times for elective surgery and the significant waiting lists in the East Midlands. As of April 2023, over 30,000 people in the region had been waiting a year or more for their surgical procedure.
The cutting-edge modular surgical facility marks the first phase of redevelopment to the Hospital’s Brandon Unit and features 55m2 operating rooms, anaesthetic rooms, lay-up prep rooms, dirty utility rooms and a theatre store.
